K-12 Enthusiast... 

 

My passion for education extends to all levels. Not only do I actively research and employ different learning strategies at the college level, I also work to advance science education for K-12 students. As a graduate student, I worked with the former Center for Biological and Environmental Nanotechnology at Rice University to assist teachers in the Houston and Dallas Independent School Districts to present complex science concepts to their students.

 

As a professor, I have co-initiated two new science education activities with several Arkansas Public School systems: the annual UAFS Festival of Science and the UAFS Go Green Girls Summer Academy. I have additional plans to work closely with the Fort Smith Public School System to actively mentor students for the annual science fair competition.
