  • Surface-functionalization and SiC nanocrystals to affect biocompatibility and stability in various environments.

  • Characterization of coated SiC nanocrystals.

  • Synthesis of porous SiC nanocrystals impregnated with Fe2+.

 

Postdoctoral Research: Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine, College of Medicine, Texas A&M Health Science Center, 2009-2011

  • Design of nanocomposites comprised of various nanocrystals and ultrabithorax-based protein materials.

  • Control of morphology and mechanical properties of protein materials by altering nanocrystal coatings.

  • Patterning of nanocrystals on protein materials to tailor electronic properties of nanocomposite.

  • Development of a hybrid nanocrystal/protein composite to facilitate FRET and design a biosensor.

  • Synthesis and characterization of nanobioconjugates comprised of gold nanoparticles, Immunoglobin G, myoglobin, lysozyme, and lactalbumin.

  • Control over nanobioconjugate aggregation using solution pH and surface modifications to proteins using aminoalkylation, succinylation, and acetylation reactions.

  • Novel adaptation of Analytical Ultracentrifugation for characterizing nanobioconjugates and solution-phase organic nanoparticle systems.

  • Engineering biomolecule surfaces to demonstrate orientation-dependent biomolecule-antibody assembly and control antigen-antibody recognition.

  • Epitope mapping using nanobioconjugates.
